Intentions

The origin of Figures Libres, is the desire to explore a monumental ambulatory show in the city , the desire to examine the representation of the body in urban space, but also the desire to continue working on the margins our latest creation, Memento started with. At the heart of Figures Libres : portrait, resemblance to the difference.

Figures Libres re-injects the human body in the city.
A common body, vintage, worn, tattooed, branded, off to try to extract the individual’s frame, to assert the presence in the world.
A melee with the canons of beauty, stereotypes of advertising imagery, where the identity gives way to the necessary self representation.
Figures Libres walks in the city, the faces of the invisibles, the excludeds, the “bad ones”, those that we do not want to see, those that we do want to stare at anymore.
Figures Libres is an invitation to stare at tham , a front and monumental face to face.

Walking in the city would walk in the footsteps of these individuals crossed each day anonymously. It would attach to the walls their singular trajectories, signified by their faces, what they felt at the time of our meeting, what they say, what they only suggest.
Like a fleeting impression on the walls, of their paths, right on to their skin, where life prints its brands.

LIFE LINES

From the very first cry, trajectories can be written, gradually assert themselves, results of deliberate choices, circumstances, good luck or bad luck. A way of life with its stages, its capes, its tests, its moments of bliss.
There is what we feel about events that we now live - joy, sorrow, faith, despair, pride, shame - all feelings, thoughts, speech to oneself. That voice that accompanies us at every moment of our life, is printed on our bodies.
The marks of time, of tests, of character, there are listed on the face. In the manner of fortune tellers who decipher the future in the lines of the hand, you can bet that by being attentive, you could read in the lines of the face, what a man, a woman went through before arriving at the present moment.
Nothing intimate, lewd, just a few lines that speak volumes about the strength, the persistence, the faith, the evidence to be where the art of deception that everyone carries within himself, to continue his journey. These are the paths marked on the skin that could be implemented in Figures Libres.
